paint peeling off cookware?
just recently i was trying to make eggs cuz my mom make any food and i reached for the pan and i noticed the black paint on which where you put the egg to fry was peeling off and it bothered me to see that because i rubbed my fingers on it and a bunch of black sawdust like paint came off and im pretty sure thats unhealthy if i cook on it and eat the eggs, so i want to buy new cookware for my parents
what kind of cookware esp pans would not do that? i asked them where they bought those pans and they said they bought it cheap at Macys and such..
please help me i like eggs and i dont want to cook on pans that paint is falling off on
"Hard anodized" is non-stick and won’t flake off like that. Don’t get anything tephlon or anything that’s only black on the inside and not also on the outside.
Stainless steal is good as well, but you will need to rub just a little cooking oil on the inside to keep things from sticking. Do this before you cook in them, every time.
Copper is excellent for keeping the heat even, but it’s usually pretty expensive.
Go to the store and pick the pans up and look at them. Heavy pots and pans will last longer. You want something sturdy and heavy. Be prepared to pay 150-200 dollars minimum for a good set.
Sounds like you were using a Teflon-coated aluminum pan. Those pans never last. Cast iron and stainless steel pans last longer and don’t have peeling coatings. They cost more initially but are a better value because they can last for years.
It’s time to throw the pan away. Buy your parents a good set like Caphalon available in major retailers. Not super cheap, not super high end but will last a lot longer than cheap teflon coated pans.
The pan is worn. We’ve gotten rid of all our teflon pans. You don’t want it in your food.
Buy some all stainless steel pots and pans without coating. If the pans have a copper bottom (not where the copper touches your food), heat is distributed better.
Costco had some nice pots and pans at one time. That’s where we bought our last set. I don’t know if they have any in their warehouse store now.
