Please Help! Truth or Scam?
I got a phone call today saying me and my boyfriend (hopefully soon-to-be fiance) won a Dinner for Two bridal package this Sunday afternoon at a hotel by and/or within the the airport in a neighboring city. The lady on the phone said that we can reserve seats at the 4 or 6:30 show and the showcase includes a guy showing off his cookware and how to cook meals in under 15 min. but we aren’t pressured to buy anything. She said that we have to have a ticket, claim number, and form of ID to get in the airport to park and to get into the hotel conference room. She also said that we have to be present to claim our two Free gifts 2 toasting glasses with our names and date engraved on them and a Free honeymoon at a resort in Mexico, Bahamas, or the Dominican Republic and that food and everything is included but we just have to pay the air fare. At first I was excited about it but after talking to a friend about it this afternoon she said it sounds like a scam so is it really too good to be true? Please help and give me your advice on this!
The lady on the phone said that me and my boyfriend or a friend entered us in the contest and we have been selected for the bridal package and 2 Free gifts but the only giveaways I’ve signed up for is a wedding dress or bridesmaids dresses from David’s Bridal, tuxedo rentals from Men’s Warehouse, and a engagement ring from Kay’s Jewelers.
I just Googled the hotel and I’m emailing them now and asking them is there really a Dinner for Two bridal showcase this Sunday afternoon. Thanks everybody! ![]()
I checked my email and got a reply from the hotel customer service and they said that it’s not a scam and there is a Dinner for Two bridal showcase this Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 3 and 4) but the hotel staff is unsure about the prizes but gave me contact information for the guy putting on the show. They also told me I need to park in hotel parking that’s also located on the airport grounds. They said they would like for me to join them and wants their guest to feel safe and welcome and reassured me it’s not a scam and thanked me for being so cautious because they said with technology now a days you never know.
Yes, there is a Dinner for Two bridal showcase. And what would normally be a $200 flight suddenly increases to $4000 that you HAVE to use their site to purchase to complete the package. This scam has been around for 100 years. Don’t ever fall for something that sounds too good to be true.
Run a background check, cause tis does sound like a scam…
go to the airport and the neighboring hotel and ask them about it (or call or internet search and such) and find out…
Most likely a scam indeed!
Defo a scam, keep away
Did you or your boyfriend sign up for any sweepstakes? If not, I’m leaning towards scam. If it came out of nowhere and seems too good to be true… it generally is.
sounds like a scam, but if you go don’t give out any personal info, sign, or buy anything
i think it is scam for more visit

I’ve seen variants of this (see a presentation and you get a free holiday). There were hidden costs at the resort, i.e. you had to buy food there and there was a minimum food cost. In your case the food is paid for but I’m guessing (a) there is some other hidden cost, and/or (b) they’ve put you in the most basic apartment imaginable. So not a scam as such, just a promotion where the "prize" wasn’t worth taking.
And when there is an advertising presentation involved, I can almost guarantee you have not won anything, it is an advertising promotion.
time share scam. Don’t you dare!
take ur friends with u two n get the gifts. if they ask u to pay then leave it n come back.
