New York City is a big place. You would be well advised to deal with a flooring contractor that is close to your neighborhood. You should get a better price due to your proximity to the business. You are likely to get top notch service because "word of mouth" advertising will be extremely important to a local contractor. A close by contractor will also be more likely to take care of any wervice or warranty problems.
Ask you neighbors for recommendations and check your local yellow pages.

Good luck with your flooring project.
NYC,,,Hmm I lived there 6 years, I’d suggest yellow pages, and/or the nearest HD or Lowes to begin. Both offer install, using subs.
