Rust coming out of our faucets??

We have rust coming out of our faucets in the bathtub and sink. We think it may be from the bottom of the hot water heater. If thats the case, how do we fix that? Do we buy a whole new water heater?

  1. If its hot water only, then more than likely your hot water heater is rusted out. If you have a well, some part of the well may be rusted out as well.

  2. Its the external surface/parts which usually get exposed to the atmospheric air & process of corrosion usually starts. If your water heater is quite old, better replace it. If not, stop using the heater for a day. When the water is totally rid of the water heater, use the sealant for inner surface, which should be heat resistant.

For external surface, clean the surface thoroughly with the salt paper & apply a coat of primer paint. This may give a fresh lease of life to the water heater & stop the corrosion further. Best of luck.
