Where can I buy sheets of glass to make a backsplash for my kitchen?

I am wanting to take glass sheets of different colours and make rectangles (at least 4 inches long) and make a backsplash in my kitchen. I could use scraps or just plain sheets. I am wondering a good place to order them from for CHEAP. Is it cheaper for me to go to hobbylobby when they have their glass at 30% off or just buy online? Where is a good place?

You will have to bring accurate measurements to a glass shop
for SAFETY glass, and have them cut it for you, standard hardware stores do not carry (if safety is a priority).

  2. Regardless of where you get the material, you will want a continuous piece that runs the length of the backsplash behind the glass to make it as waterproof as possible. Hobby shops might have glass more so than hardware stores. If you can find flat sided bottles in various colors (perhaps whiskey bottles?), you may even be able to make your own with a good glass cutter and emery cloth to smooth the edges. Time consuming but cheap.

  3. Have you thought out this project well, and considered safety? Glass is brittle, and breaks, and leaves sharp edges. If you want to make a backsplash, You should consider safety glass, but finding it in a myriad of colors is going to be hard. It has to be cut by a pro.

Why not go with tile which is easier to find, and install.

  4. Go on-line and look up Owens-Corning. They have all sorts of glass for back splases and other glass tiles
