Where to buy a replacement faucet for a claw foot tub?

I’ve tried researching this online and can’t seem to find what i’m looking for and i’m hoping that someone can help.

I have an old claw foot tub in my bathroom that has a shower kit installed. On the faucet, i’m not sure what the piece is called; the piece that you pull up to turn the shower on..well, it fell off. I’m not sure if a piece of it went down the drain or what, but I can’t seem to figure out how to put it back on the faucet. So I was just going to buy a new faucet for the tub but I don’t want to have to buy the whole shower kit.

Can I just buy any faucet or is there a special one that I need to get for the shower kit? And if so where can I get one?

I know they sell a few at overstock.com, or try googling vintage plumbing

  3. The easy thing to do first is if you have a digital camera take a picture and the the part to a plumbing supply and ask them if they don’t have it they can probably tell you more info.
